Open Call Theatertreffen-Blog 2020

Starting immediately, the Theatertreffen of Berliner Festspiele is looking for emerging arts journalists and authors to join their Blog-team for the coming festival edition. The deadline for applications is 2 February 2020.

The Theatertreffen-Blog is a platform for emerging arts journalists. Over more than ten years, it has firmly established itself as an independent digital brand in the media landscape. For its 12th edition, the Theatertreffen-Blog once again invites young authors and journalists to provide swift and critical coverage from the heart of the events of the 57th Theatertreffen. Candidates from other fields of expertise, such as photography, video art and illustration, are also expressly invited to apply.

We are looking for a critical view of the festival’s invited productions and its accompanying programme from a wide range of contexts – be they social, political or artistic. We would like to especially encourage applications from representatives of marginalised perspectives. It is the Theatertreffen-Blog’s explicit intention to create access to the world of culture and the media for a wide diversity of voices, to refine capabilities, develop journalistic writing and experiment with innovative formats.

The grant includes accommodation and travel expenses, attendance at the festival’s events as well as an expense allowance. There is no age limit; however, the Theatertreffen-Blog sees itself as a project that promotes emerging journalists. The bloggers will be supported in their work by experienced mentors.

Applicants must be prepared for intensive work within the editorial team and their presence in Berlin for the entire duration of the Theatertreffen is a prerequisite. Very good German language skills are mandatory.

Applications should be addressed to by 2 February 2020 in digital form only.
