The Royal Danish Theatre invites professional actors, dancers, performers of all genders – female, male, trans and queer persons – all ages, sexual orientations and all cultural backgrounds to audition for a new performance by Falk Richter. PRIDE will open during The World Pride in Copenhagen August 2021.  

All artists should feel comfortable above their professional skills to share their own personal stories on stage. The themes for this production are gender, heritage, belonging, community, pride and shame.

The performance and working language will be English.


March 8th – 12th 2021
May 31st- June 26th 2021
July 26th – medio August 2021.

Performances run until ultimo September 2021 with a possibility of an additional period of touring.

In order to apply you must be able to attend all rehearsals.

The application:

On max. 1 page in format PDF you are to present yourself including: 1 photo, a presentation of your professional career and experience within either acting, dancing and/or performing. Importantly you are invited to bring and present your personal stories inspired by your life story and/or political ideas in relation to the theme shame and pride. You should be interested in sharing your own stories on stage and be open to improvisation tasks on the first meeting. Experience with singing and playing a musical instrument is welcome.  

Deadline August 3rd at 8 Am. We will then select the performers for the audition and let you know August 10th. The ones who are not selected for the audition will get an answer soon after August 10th.

The audition:

Will be held at The Royal Danish Playhouse August 21st-22nd 2020 in the daytime. The call back will be on Sunday 23rd.

The audition consists of your presentation of a dramatic text of your own choice, a song of your own choice and an interview with director Falk Richter. You will be asked to improvise using the microphone. In the improvisations you may be asked to talk about personal experiences, questions of your personal heritage and sense of belonging and your view on issues like shame and pride, and the PRIDE movement of LGBTIQ community. We welcome all genders, all ages, all sexual orientations, all cultural backgrounds.

During the call back there will be physical exercises where you will be required to wear training clothes.

Everyone will be employed according to the agreement with the Danish Actors Association.

German theatre director and playwright Falk Richter is internationally renowned for his work and distinct way of engaging with pressing social and political issues through performing arts. Questions of gender, heritage and belonging, as well as the politics of identity and resistance play an important role in his work. Collaborating with actors, musicians, dancers, and video artists in processes, Richter works internationally (Germany, France, Sweden, Italy, Australia, Holland, Belgium and beyond) and mostly with international casts. Richter’s latest work is In My Room at Maxim Gorki Theatre in Berlin:
